Today I had the best day doing workshops with Upper Primary at Kingston International School in Kowloon Tong! The Grade 4s unscrambled limericks and identified haikus and completed the gaps in a horrifying poem called Let’s Destroy the School in my Introduction to Poetry Workshop! The Grade 5s and 6s learned all about How to Write a Riveting Story that will glue the reader’s nose to the page, and left with a fab Story Planning sheet to plan their next stories! And some of them even promised to use them to plan their entry into my current Clever Competition (see tab at the top of this page!). I can’t wait to read their entries! Huge thanks to the lovely Jennifer Shaw for hosting me today! Photos to come!
Thank you Japanese International School!

A big THANK YOU to the fabulous staff and students of Grades 3 to 6 at Japanese International School in Tai Po for a fun day today! It was great to introduce you to my mischievous Ming Kee Monkey, not to mention some of the fascinating, rare animals of the Yunnan jungle like Binturongs, Gaurs, Civet Cats, Gibbons and Lorises named Doris! And then the Grade 5s and 6s and I met again for fun and games in my Introduction to Poetry Workshops! I was especially impressed with the talent they showed in completing our poem Let’s Destroy the School! I look forward to lots of entries in my Clever Competition – see the button above!

Ming Kee Monkey and I have had a ball this week, in two fabulous Hong Kong schools! On Monday we were meant to be visiting Japanese International School, but the weather was SOOOO cold that the Hong Kong Education Board closed all the primary schools – so I’ll be seeing them again later in February!
On Tuesday we visited German Swiss International School at their Wanchai campus, and the feisty kids of Grades 3 to 6 met my mischievous Monkey in three fun story readings! Many thanks to my wonderful old friend Megan Lindsay for hosting me and for preparing such a fun welcome board (above)!
And then today I spent a very happy morning at International College of Hong Kong, Hong Lok Yuen, when the big kids met Ming Kee Monkey and the little kids met Pin Yin Panda. We had a lot of fun! Thanks to Deputy Principal Brett MacKenzie for inviting me! (Photos to come!)

Ming Kee Monkey and I had SO much fun meeting the fabulous Grade 1s, 2s and 3s at ISF Academy in Pok Fu Lam today! After four big story reading sessions, where the kids learned all about the extraordinary wild life of Yunnan Province, the amazing true story of Xuanzang the 7th Century Buddhist explorer and the fun folk story of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King – all the while enjoying my new story about mischievous Ming Kee Monkey – the kids made a mad dash to look at the rest of my books! Big thanks to the lovely Ada Lee, primary librarian, and Karen Ip, head librarian, for inviting me in and hosting me to a wonderful day!
