Let’s celebrate the wonderful world of wicked words!

 Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all busy writing your acrostics for my May Acrostic Competition (see the Competition page above)!

In the meantime, all you kids out there know how much I love putting long and unusual words in my stories. I LOVE words (which is why I’m a writer) and I especially love words that we don’t use much in ordinary conversation.

Did you know that studies have shown that the kids with the best vocabularies end up with the best school marks, the best jobs, the happiest families and the longest lives?! So I’ve decided to introduce  a wicked new word every week on my blog so you can all add some great new words to YOUR vocabularies! You can even use them on your mums and dads and shock their socks off!

But I’ll need your help!

If you have any favourite words of your own that are unusual, or really long, or really complicated, why not send me a post and I’ll feature your word the next week!

See my new Word of the Week page for the first great new word!

Hi Valerie – you just have to look at the tabs at the top of the page – it says “Competitions” and if you click on that it will tell you all about my acrostic competition! Happy writing!
