Are you a primary school-aged student? Do you like writing stories? And do you like RABBITS??

Then it’s time for you to enter my new Clever Competition: The Tale of a Rogue Rabbit!

Now before I say anything else, I know that Rabbits in the Chinese Zodiac are a very civilized, polite and law-abiding! But as we all know, that naughty Rhonda Rabbit is a rebel from north of the border, who spends her time being extremely UN-civilized, IM-polite and breaking every law Qin Shi Huang puts in her way! She is NOT a Chinese Zodiac type of rabbit at all, but she’s a great reminder to put a rabbit-proof fence around our vegetable gardens!

So for this Clever Competition, I’d like you to write me a story about a rogue rabbit! Go to my Clever Competitions page right away to read all the rules, as well as all the tasty ingredients you must include!

The deadline’s at the end of April, so you have lots of time to write a RAVISHING story! I can’t wait to read it!

Riva with Ms Leanne Sercombe

Isn’t this a wonderful photo of Reva Kamath from Discovery College, Hong Kong, who at just 8 years old came Second Place in the Year 4 to 6 category of my Oxcellent Ox Tale Competition? Reva chose The Tale of Run Run Rat as her prize, and here she is being presented with it by PYP Teacher Librarian Mrs Leanne Sercombe. The story she chose is all about the success that comes to those try their hardest; a very appropriate choice for this talented young writer! Well done Reva! I can’t wait to read more of your work!

Yesterday I had the huge pleasure of attending the Online Celebration Ceremony of the My Story Creation Competition 2020-2021, hosted by my friends at Kids4Kids, and funded by The Community Chest! I was honoured to read out to the attendees the fabulous overall winning story, The Wolf, written and illustrated by Kristi Ng. It’s a fantastic story, with beautiful illustrations in watercolour, crayon and colour pencil. You can see some of the pages from Kristi’s book in the slideshow below. Aren’t they wonderful?

Huge congratulations to the 352 kids who entered from schools and learning centres all over Hong Kong! You can see the list of winners and their work by visiting the competition website here.

And you can register for next year’s competition right away by scanning the QR code below!
