Watch out Singapore! Ming Kee Monkey is in town! Yesterday she visited the fabulous kids of Canadian International School, Tanjong Katong campus, and caused HAVOC in the primary library with the Grade 3s to Grade 6s! Many thanks to my lovely friend and librarian Nadine Bailey and her staff for putting up with Ming Kee’s antics and being such gracious hosts!

A big thank you to the friendly, enthusiastic, book-loving staff and students of Avondale Grammar in Singapore for hosting me yesterday! We had a fabulous day of story readings with the Foundation to Year 2 students, who met Chester Choi and Pin Yin Panda, then my Introduction to Poetry Workshop with the Year 3 and 4s, and my Books are a Brain’s Best Friend with the Year 5 to 8s! We even had time for a quick reading of A Dirty Story to the Year 5 to 8s, who very accurately predicted the rhyming words to each couplet! I saw books everywhere, the teachers were huge fans of book-reading, and the students were clearly HUGE book-readers, with, predictably, impressive general knowledge and very interesting questions and opinions to offer. Now that’s what I call an education! I look forward to some great entries in my Clever Competition!

A big thank you to the fabulous Stamford American International School in Singapore for a very BIG day of story readings on Thursday! Chester Choi gobbled up the delicious Kindies, Pin Yin Panda preened herself in front of the gorgeous Grade Ones, Rodney Ram ran rampant among the Grade Twos and Threes, then my Dark Horse dashed away with the Grade Four and Fives! It was so much fun! An even bigger thank you to Kim Klein and her very helpful staff George and Svetta for their warm welcome and assistance throughout the day! I’m looking forward to some fantastic entries from SAIS in my Clever Competition!

Today I had a fabulous time with the teachers and kids of International School of Singapore, introducing the Grade 1 to 3s to my very good-looking Rodney Ram and sharing all the rules of How to Write Riveting Stories with the Grade 4s and 5s! We had a lot of fun! Huge thanks to the Alliterative Librarian, aka Head of Libraries Graham Grant (centre), the lovely Elementary Librarian Susan Grant (left) and Literacy Co-ordinator (and fellow Tasmanian) Kate Bond (right) for being such warm and welcoming hosts!
