Today I visited my fabulous friends at Stamford American International School in Singapore again, for the first of three great days chock full of writing workshops and reading sessions for the Grade 5s, and talks to parents and teachers about creating bookworms and writers in the digital age too! It was wonderful to see you all, and especially to introduce you to my mischievous Ming Kee Monkey! I can’t wait to work with more of you tomorrow!

Watch out Singapore! Ming Kee Monkey is in town! Yesterday she visited the fabulous kids of Canadian International School, Tanjong Katong campus, and caused HAVOC in the primary library with the Grade 3s to Grade 6s! Many thanks to my lovely friend and librarian Nadine Bailey and her staff for putting up with Ming Kee’s antics and being such gracious hosts!

A big THANK YOU to Arti and Shonee Mirchandani and all the wonderful staff at Bookazine, Princes Building, for a fabulous launch today! Harry and I had a fabulous morning meeting our fans, with a story reading of The Tale of Ming Kee Monkey, a challenging quiz (where the kids did REALLY well) and a fun book-signing. And Jodi Mullen from Room to Read gave us much food for thought in her wonderful opening speech about my favourite charity, which gives such incredible support to literacy and girls’ education in Third World countries. Thanks to everyone who came for such a warm welcome for Ming Kee Monkey in Hong Kong!

Hello again, and a very happy soon-to-arrive Year of the Monkey to you! The Tale of Ming Kee Monkey is just about to launch in Hong Kong and it’s time for another international story competition! This time, I want you to write me a story all about a mischievous Monkey! You also have to include a Chinese setting, a Chinese Emperor, a magic teapot, a big flood and the colour verditer. Hmm…. you’ll have to do a bit of research to find out what that colour is! Entries are welcome from primary school aged students all around the world, so get out those pens and writing pads and start writing! The deadline date is Thursday 24th March. Ming Kee Monkey had her very first outing today at Kennedy School in Pok Fu Lam! It was the very first time that I read her story to anyone, anywhere, and it was such fun to introduce her to her new fans! Special thanks to Head of English Jeff Moore for being such a fabulous host, and to all the kids and teachers of Grades 3 to 6 for being such a great audience! And a big hello to the scrumptious kids of Grades 1 to 2 who met my cheeky Pin Yin Panda early in the morning! Photos to come!

If you’ve been wondering just who has been causing all the mischief and mayhem in my last few posts, the mystery is now solved! It’s mischievous Ming Kee Monkey, the star of my latest Chinese Calendar Tale, out just in time for the Year of the Monkey! And here she is, swinging on a vine with a handful of feathers yanked from that poor peacock’s tail!
