Room To Read needs our urgent help!

April 27, 2015 at 12:20 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 12 Comments

Hello my friends. As you may already know, there was a big earthquake in Nepal on Saturday. Nepal is where everything started with Room to Read, and since they started work there, they have built over 1100 schools! They estimate that up to one quarter of these may have been destroyed in the earthquake. This is terrible news for all the kids, who now have no school, no libraries, and no books. Imagine how horrible that would be! So please ask Mum and Dad to go to the Room to Read website at http://www.roomtoread.org/ to see what you and your family can do to help, and please tell all your friends about it.

  1. How sad! I’ll do whatever I can to help!

  2. My school (KJS) is hosting a Market Day for the students and all the profits will go to a charity to help the Nepal Earthquake survivors.

    • Marissa, that’s just marvellous. Hope it goes fantastically well!

      • It did – we raised so much money!

      • That’s fantastic! Well done you!

  3. Sad news. I will donate $1000.

  4. Dear Sarah Brennan,

So sad to hear that. 😦

I am a Korean living in HK and I will donate HKD$2000 to Room to Read, Crossroads and UNICEF. I have a Nepalese penpal called Sajit living in Nepal and his home was destroyed by the earthquake so I really want to help!

    From Jae-Sung Park 😉 🙂

    • Jae-Sung that is so generous. Thank you so much. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and hope that he finds another home soon.

  5. I visited Nepal before and it was so beautiful and now the earthquake destroyed so many things so I am devastated. I will donate as much as I can to Room to Read.

    From Richard 🙂
