Sonia and Anya and me at the Shang Lit Fest-March 2014

It seems that writing talent runs in families, and after I published my post about Sonia below, I was very privileged to meet her lovely grandma Rumana Husain yesterday via email! I discovered that Rumana is a famous children’s author and illustrator in Pakistan, among many other talents. Like me, Rumana was a guest speaker at the Shanghai International Literary Festival in March earlier this year, and her you can see a photo of her with Sonia and Sonia’s little sister Anya at the Festival. I think that Sonia is a bit of a chip off her grandma’s block! If you want to see more about Rumana’s books, you can click on this link  with Mum and Dad! http://www.pinterest.com/rumanahusain/books-authored-or-illustrated-by-me/

  1. I am proud to be Rumana Husain’s friend. Have learned a lot from her,
She has been my boss, and my mentor. Proud of her and now going to be proud of the upcoming talent her grand daughter Sonia.

    • Hi Naheed, Thanks for your lovely comment about Rumana. She seems like an amazing woman and you are fortunate that she is your mentor!

  2. Aww, thank you both. Sarah, Naheed is indeed a very dear friend, a brilliant teacher, a cook par excellence, an innovative clothes designer, a kind and warm hearted person who is soon to become a grandmother for the first time! I am sure her own prodigy will be as wonderful as she is.
