Thank you to my dear friend Megan Lindsay for inviting me for a fabulous morning of talks with the Year 5s and Year 6s in the international stream at GSIS! I really enjoyed telling the kids all about how I wrote The Tale of Rickshaw Rooster and the fascinating history behind it, and then to challenge them to replace many of the sophisticated words I used in the verse with words of their own choice! They came up with some excellent ideas – I’m quite sure that many of them are rather good poets themselves! I can’t wait to see their entries in my next Clever Competition! Here I am with Megan below!

Many thanks to Thing 1 and Thing 2 (a.k.a. Shonee and Arti Mirchandani above) and Clemence (top left) at Bookazine for inviting me to their fabulous Bookazine Children’s Bookfest on Sunday morning! After a fun Facebook Interview with Little Steps Hong Kong (Where’s Wally above :)), a huge host of kids, mums and dads were entertained with LOADS of story readings by the Hong Kong Talespinners (middle far right), Gregory March with his wonderful new yoga book for kids, The Dog who Chased His Tail (middle third from left), Ellen Ng and Assia Bennani (Hong Kong A to Z), Matthew Cooper (Black Rain Day), Bhakti Mathur (Amma Tell Me series) and last but not least, me with my Tale of Rickshaw Rooster from The Chinese Calendar Tales! karen-hubbard-elvis-and-meThank you Karen Hubbard, Lead Teacher of Curriculum at Shatin Junior School, and my wonderful host and friend, for this fabulous photo taken during Book Week this week! I LOVE Karen’s costume, and note how it matches the colours on the cover of my latest Chinese Calendar Tale, The Tale of Rickshaw Rooster, perfectly! Not to mention Elvis the Australian Rooster (a.k.a. an Emu with two blue tail feathers) who is sitting on her shoulder! And what is he saying? Of course! It’s Cock-a-doodle-GLOMP!
