We learnt all about Lord Buddha’s Race, the order of the Chinese Zodiac beasties, and why Pandas AREN’T in the Chinese Zodiac! We had a lot of fun!

It was wonderful to see all you fabulous kids again and to introduce my lovely Dark Horse to you! I hope you all are telling your mums and dads tonight about how the Silk Road started! The Dark Horse gallops into Kellett School, Kowloon Bay!

Thank you so much to librarians Lisa Share (right) and Beth McNeilly (left) for being such wonderful hosts!

February 14, 2014 at 5:07 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentThe kids of Grade 4 to 6 at CAIS and I had a lot of fun yesterday in 3 fabulous Writing and Poetry workshop sessions and one story reading of my lovely Dark Horse’s tail…or should I say TALE! Thanks to the dedicated staff who as ever made me feel so warmly welcome, and especially to terrific librarian Danielle McAuley for her very kind and professional hosting! I hope to see loads of CAIS entries in my Clever Competition!
The Dark Horse dashes into Dymocks IFC!
February 9, 2014 at 1:37 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWarm thanks to Dymocks staff Maggie, Jessica and Anson for hosting a funny and fabulous story reading of The Tale of a Dark Horse on Saturday afternoon at Dymocks IFC! The fun started with a treasure hunt for pictures of the Dark Horse, with prizes and lai see for all the kids, and ended with a story reading and book-signing. Thanks to all the mums and dads who brought along their kids – we had a great time!

Here’s just a taste of what you can see in Hong Kong today: from the lobby of my apartment building (above); to the famous Wishing Trees and temple in the village of Lam Tsuen near the Chinese border;
to the flower markets on street corners and the fishing boats in Aberdeen:
And the halls of luxury shopping arcades like the Landmark below:
And then of course there are lion dances everywhere, delicious feasts in homes and in restaurants, and the fireworks over Victoria Harbour! It’s magical!
