We had a lot of fun learning about the Chinese Zodiac with Pin Yin Panda and working out where all the stickers go in the book! Photos to come!

Hello all you clever writers out there! It’s time for a new Clever Competition – and this time the subject is out of this world! With Christmas just over a month away, what better topic than Christmas on Mars! Go to my Clever Competition Page (above) right away for all the details!  Now I know you’re all busy with lots of concerts and assemblies and fun before the Christmas break, and I also know that many of you love to write stories in the holidays, so I’m giving you until Friday 18 January to get your entries in. Have fun!

I’m looking forward to seeing some funny and fabulous AISS entries in my next Clever Competition, which I’ll be announcing this weekend! Here’s a photo of me with some of the gorgeous kids and Jo-Anne!

Great News from New South Wales, Australia!

I’m over the moon! I’ve just been advised that all the Chinese Calendar Tales – including our new Tale for the Year of the Snake next year – have been added to the New South Wales Premier’s Reading Challenge Reading List for 2013! I can’t wait for all those NSW kids to meet Chester Choi, Run Run Rat, Oswald Ox, Temujin the Tiger, Rhonda Rabbit and Pin Yin Panda…not to mention our lovely new Snake – whose name is TOP SECRET!!! But just as a little celebration, here’s her very charming face! She’s back from the printers on Friday this week!

Thank you Tom Keneally!

Here is a photo of me with Australia’s great writer Tom Keneally, who a lot of grown-ups will know is the author of the Booker Prize winning novel Schindler’s Ark, later made into the Academy Award winning movie Schindler’s List. I met Tom, his wife Judy and his lovely granddaughter Alex at the Capital Literary Festival in Beijing last year. I am very proud to tell you  that Tom has written one of the blurbs for the back of my new book for next year! And I’m even prouder to say that Tom says that my books are “unique in children’s literature”! Only one more week till the book gets back from the printers…

Well done Gabby Green for winning First Place in my Autumn Haiku Competition, Grade 4 to 6 Section!
